Take care with all the Laguiole imitations sold everywhere

We would like to inform you to take care with all the Laguiole imitations. A lot of imitations are sold everwhere. These imitations are made with a very bad quality. Most of time these knives are made in Pakistan. It is very difficult to tell you how to recognize a genuine Laguiole from an imitation because they are apparently the same. However, the quality of the imitation is very very poor and it fall in part in few months.
One main information that could inform you if the Laguiole is a genuine one or if it is an imitation is the price. The imitations are sold for a low price.
The genuine Laguiole are handcrafted and it takes long time to handcraft each article. That is why the price of each Laguiole is high. If you see a Laguiole sold for a low price, that means that it is industrially made. There are numerous imitations sold everywhere (even in famous store). You have to know that when you buy a genuine Laguiole you get a life guarantee.

See below the Emails we received from persons who bought imitations :
(We have replaced in the following messages all the name of the stores or Web site by "Famous store" or "Famous Web Site" . We don't want to incriminate famous store on this page.)

<< Hi...I recently purchased a set of Laguiole steak knives with wooden handles. When I received them, I loved how the handles had a nice smooth, polished feel and sheen. The key word here is "had"...After I used 2 of them just one time, I barely rinsed them off with soap and water and now the handles on the two I've used don't feel as smooth as the unused ones. Their feel is almost rough. Is there anything you can tell me or advise me to do with the rougher feeling knives? I'd love to always have them feel as great as they did when they were first used. I purchased them from a famous store and if you think this set is in any way inferior, please let me know. Thank you for your help, Susan >>

<<Dear Richard, Laguiole knives handles fall in part. Is there a way to replace the handles? I hate to just throw the knives away. Another question: I noticed that on your website 6 stainless knives cost $520 while in a famous catalog, six Laguiole knives cost $49.95. Is there a difference between the knives? Thank you, Sarah >>

<<I was looking on a famous web site at the laguiole knives. Many people are selling sets of 6 table knives for under $100. I've also seen the knives on sale at another famous web site for $49 for a set of 6 table knives. However, when I browse the web at other sites, the cost is much higher. Can you tell me what the difference is? I would like to purchase a set of knives and forks, but I would like original goods and not cheap imitations. Is there any way I can identify them?
Kind Regards, Ken >>
